How I Miss Reading Rainbow

How many people who were the product of the 80's like me, or even had kids in the 80's remember the wonderful theme song to Reading Rainbow?

"Butterfly in the sky
I can go twice as high
Take a look
It's in a book
A Reading Rainbow..."

I used to LOVE that show, and the books they would read were always so good! As a kid, the summer was always full of excitement because there was the Library Reading Program, and the worm I could color in every time I read a certain amount of books...I was pumped to be able to advance to the next stage. I just LOVED reading as a kid, even teenager. I don't what happened in my adulthood, maybe it was all the self-help/christian/relationship books we read in college but I got a little burnt out. Now there were an occasional few I read that really stirred something within me, but that wasn't the case for most. I've decided I'm done feeling that way.

So I've decided (thanks to inspiration from our friend Kendall) to read the top 100 list. Some are classics and some are newer, but I want to fall in love with reading again. If you are looking for ideas, feel free to take a gander at my list on my Pages. #Fortheloveofreading

I ♥ Saturdays

Today was a wonderful day, brought on by not so wonderful circumstances. Today marks the first free Saturday of many Saturdays to come. Let me explain: the summer months are financially hard on all jewelry stores, and because of that, Bobby no longer works on Saturday mornings. While that may suck for our bank account, I am overjoyed to spend the whole day with my hubby.

Our first full Saturday together was spent wonderfully. We went to our local Farmer's Market (which is the best in the nation they say), and we had so much fun! My favorite things about the market:

*Iced soy pumpkin pie fair trade coffee that is locally roasted by Green Beans Gourmet Coffee

*Broken dish jewelry (they make sweet earrings/necklaces out of vintage china)

*Posole verde sandwiches from 138 Sandwich Food Truck

*The adoptable puppies (where we got Penny)

*And all the amazing performers

The rest of the day we spent going to a bunch of different stores, window shopping, and just being silly. So this is what the weekend feels like for normal people.

I ♥ Saturdays

Let me clarify, I love every other Saturday, because that means Bobby has half the day off from work. It is so nice to have one morning where we can sleep in together, and act like a normal married couple. This morning I was blessed a by chorizo and egg breakfast (ladies, marry someone who loves to cook). :) Though I only get him until 2 pm, it is just so much fun to sit and talk, and maybe watch some funny videos on YouTube.

Saturday afternoons he heads to church to practice and then lead worship for the Saturday Night Life service...which means I get the house all to myself for a few hours. It is so fun to be able to surprise him with something when he comes home. Sometimes it's dinner, but lets be real, most of the time it is some random baked good I created. So to no avail, tonight I made two types of Paleo muffins, pumpkin almond chocolate chip, and double chocolate. He likes the pumpkin, I obviously love the chocolate (hint, hint, Bobby if you are reading this.)

I am always pleasantly surprised that something healthy can taste this good! We are not hardcore paleo-ists by any means, but I love being healthy. It is astounding how good we both feel when we eat right, and it has helped my hubby lose weight...he is looking amazing as well!

The Big Day

Since this blog is about becoming Mr & Mrs Frick, we might as well start with the greatest day of our journey so far...our wedding day.

When it happened...April 6th, 2013

Where it happened...Amado/Tubac, AZ

Who was there...our amazing family, friends and loved ones.

Without sounding too cheesy, this day was more than I ever could have asked for. For a year I had been praying with friends and dreaming with Bobby about what I wanted our day to be. Every detail, the message shared, and even who would walk me down the aisle; God and I talked about them constantly. We have such amazing friends who came early, helped decorate, kept the bride calm and the groom out of trouble. Without them, I don't know what we would have done.  To be honest, I have no idea how everything came together, but it did. Perfectly!

I can take no credit for all of the little miracles that occurred on that day, but I am so grateful that I was able to marry my best friend, and that all those whom we love were there to share it with us.
